“A masterpiece, a union of horror and beauty, a film filled with magic,” wrote Simone de Beauvoir in Le Monde in 1985. She had just seen Claude Lanzmann’s epic Shoah and, like many others, was struck by how the film conveyed one of history’s darkest chapters in a way that resonated deeply in the heart, body, and soul. 40 years after its premiere and 80 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the film is screened again in collaboration with Folkets Bio, The Robert Weil Family Foundation, and the Swedish Holocaust Museum.
Shoah, with a viewing time of 9h 26min, is screened on Sunday the 9th of March at Filmhuset, Bio Mauritz. The screening is divided into two blocks along with a conversation between Christina Gamstorp and Kenneth Hermele.
