Tempo is a cross-disciplinary festival where diverse forms of documentary storytelling meet and evolve. The festival’s extensive industry programme highlights creativity, process, and knowledge exchange – we believe that the most innovative ideas are born through collaboration.
The programme is aimed at both established filmmakers looking to expand their perspectives and new voices seeking guidance, context, and inspiration. Over the course of three intensive days in March, filmmakers, producers, funders, researchers, and other professionals gather for talks, seminars, and networking events. Participants gain both practical tools and new insights, along with valuable connections to support their continued work.
Tempo Pitch
Tempo Pitch is open to professional producers and/or directors, where at least one team member must have produced a film previously distributed in cinemas, on television, or via VOD platforms. The project should be a feature-length documentary in need of additional financing. Selected teams will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to a panel of Swedish and international decision-makers during the festival.
Tempo Meet Up
Tempo Meet Up is a talent programme that brings together emerging documentary filmmakers from across Sweden. In a tailored programme that includes group discussions about current projects, seminars, masterclasses, speed meetings with industry representatives, and film screenings, participants develop their ideas in close dialogue with peers and professionals. The programme is organised in collaboration with regional partners who nominate participants from each region. Tempo Meet Up offers a unique chance to connect with decision-makers, receive valuable feedback, and build networks in a supportive and creative environment.
Tempo Think Tank
Tempo Think Tank was launched at the 2024 festival as a new initiative to promote idea exchange, long-term thinking, and deeper understanding of the role of documentary film in society. Selected participants are invited to explore specific themes in depth. The first edition, led by film scholar Annika Wik, focused on documentary audiences. In 2025, the think tank explored young people’s film habits. Tempo Think Tank is an invitation-only platform for reflection and forward-thinking.
At Tempo, established names and new voices, decision-makers and creatives come together in a dynamic environment where everyone is welcome. No matter where you are in your career, Tempo offers space for growth, dialogue, and renewal.
Together, we shape the future of documentary storytelling.
