Seeds is a poetic, grounded meditation on life among a group of Black farmers in the American South. In timeless, monochrome images, years pass as people are buried and children are put to bed, while large machines continue to rattle through cotton fields. Pressured from all sides, some of the farmers travel to Washington to fight for their rights—after a century of systematic land loss to white landowners. The film was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at Sundance.
