Thirteen-year-old Melrick spends his summer vacation at his grandmother’s home in French Guiana, far from the dull grey of France. He dreams of learning to play drums with the street bands of Cayenne. But his presence and talent stir up painful memories, forcing him to confront the legacy of his late uncle, a promising drummer who was tragically murdered at 19. A vibrant coming-of-age film filled with infectious music, Kouté vwa explores family bonds, grief, and finding reconciliation with the past.
