When Ida Taavitsainen was expecting her second child, she decided to begin documenting her family’s life with an Instax camera. The images take on a physical form and multiply as the children grow. Each photograph is dated and accompanied by diary entries. By limiting herself to the rooms of the home after her son’s birth, she creates a body of work that captures the love and joy of everyday life, as well as the sense of confinement that a new phase of life can entail. The exhibition at Centrum för fotografi presents more than one hundred photographs taken over the past few years. Together, they weave a universal story of parenthood alongside a personal portrait of a growing family in Helsinki.
Opening hours Centrum för fotografi: Thursday-Friday 12-17, Saturday 12-16.
The Exhibition will run until March 21st.
