As a five-year-old, Gaël lost his mother Didy, just before the genocides in Burundi and Rwanda. He was sent to safety in Switzerland, where memories of his mother were gradually overshadowed by the horrors of war. As an adult, he returns to Rwanda in search of her. Through encounters with people who knew her, a portrait emerges—not just of a strong woman but of a generation shaped by displacement and conflict. Didy is a film about letting go of the past and rediscovering a homeland.
