Den siste Freudianen follows Sweden’s most controversial psychoanalyst, Per Magnus Johansson. A guru to some, a factory for producing new Freudians to others—and one of the reasons the declared-dead method refuses to disappear. At a time when psychiatry is dominated by CBT and medication, his practice in Gothenburg becomes a gathering place for those seeking something different. The film follows him as he starts a private institute to train the next generation of analysts. What does it mean to work as a psychoanalyst today, and is the method relevant at all in 2026?

The project is presented within Tempo Pitch, where seven film projects are pitched in front of an audience and a jury consisting of selected industry experts. The winning project is awarded 90,000 SEK by Film Stockholm, SVT Documentary, and the Swedish Film Institute. New this year, Docs Ireland and DOK Leipzig will present awards to their favorite pitches. The presentations are moderated by Martijn te Pas.

Tempo Pitch takes place on March 5, 3:00–5:30 PM at Debaser. Industry accreditation is required to attend. Read more here.
