Tempo Talent Lab is a national program for documentary filmmakers at the beginning of their professional careers. Taking place during Tempo Documentary Festival, the lab offers a unique opportunity to deepen your artistic practice, meet industry representatives, and build long-term connections at one of Sweden’s most important documentary hubs.

As a participant, you will work intensively on your ongoing project and artistic process through feedback sessions, workshops, and discussions that help sharpen both form and direction. You will meet producers, funders, festival representatives, and international guests, while masterclasses, site visits, and conversations provide a broader understanding of the conditions and workflows of documentary filmmaking. The program is grounded in community and exchange of experience — you become part of an engaged group of filmmakers from across the country who learn and grow together.

Ahead of the festival, the group meets digitally on three occasions between January and March. These sessions prepare you for the festival week and include an introduction to the program, pitch training, and opportunities to connect with the other participants.

During the festival week in Stockholm, you will take part in four intensive days filled with in-depth project reviews, workshops, masterclasses, speed-dating with decision-makers, industry lunches, site visits, networking events, screenings, and festival activities. The program is designed to give you both confidence and the practical tools needed to take the next step in your professional journey.

Tempo Talent Lab is aimed at documentary filmmakers who are working professionally but are not yet established. Selection is made in collaboration with regional film resource centers. Contact your regional film center for more information.

The dates for Tempo Talent Lab 2026 are 2–5 March.
