Too old to stay at home, too young to be let into the club—so teenage bedrooms move out into cars parked in a parking lot. Candy and alcohol are passed through car windows. They talk about virginity, about not knowing whether you still are one. Someone is deceived, accused of being promiscuous. And then someone is choked, nearly dies during sex. There is also the dream of becoming a teenage mother. They toast, hug, and are best friends—only to end up in a fight the next day. Because love rarely hurts as much as it does before you’ve truly become an adult.
