Tempo Think Tank 2026: Can We Create an Independent Documentary Fund in Sweden?
For the third year in a row, Tempo Documentary Festival is organising Tempo Think Tank. This time, the focus is on the possibility of a Swedish independent documentary fund for artistic storytelling. Inspired by Norway’s Fritt ord, stakeholders from across the field gather to discuss funding, artistic freedom and structures that complement existing support systems. Against the backdrop of the 2025 film inquiry, which proposed a fund for films with “high audience potential,” the initiative aims to formulate ideas and principles for continued work. The conversation is moderated by Marit Kapla and organised in collaboration with the Swedish Film Institute.
