“If they see that I am filming, they will execute me.” With the camera in hand, Ahmad’s sister Manal documents the family’s escape from the war in Syria.
Ahmad is 13 years old, and Manal is 18 years old when the family flees to Sweden. Ten years later, the footage becomes a film where they share their thoughts and memories, as well as the need to document their story despite the potential consequences.
The material also paints a family portrait that, despite the nightmarish scenarios unfolding during the escape, leaves room for love and laughter.
After the screening on March 5, there will be a Q&A session.
