Tempo Documentary Festival and White Architects have the pleasure to invite you to an exciting evening discussion about radio storytelling and gentrification when Radio Rookies visits Tempo Audio Nights on December 1!
Present in Stockholm we’ll have Caitlin Pierce (producer of Radio Rookies and Freakonomics Radio) as well as 15-year-old Corinne Bobb-Semple, who has participated in the program. She will be presenting her documentary “Family Affair: Living a Bed-Stuy Gentrification Story” which will spark off a wider discussion about radio storytelling and gentrification. Additionally, White Architects promise to treat us all to some wine and snacks! The conversation with Caitlin and Corinne starts at 6:30 pm and will be moderated by Viktoria Walldin from White and Mohamed El Abed from Soundtelling. The discussion will be held in English.
Radio Rookies is New York Public Radio:s (NPR) initiative to let new, young storytellers take their place in the radio airwaves. The project provides teenagers with the tools and training to create radio stories about themselves, their communities and their worlds. Since 1999, the project has been conducting workshops across New York, in predominantly under-resourced neighborhoods, training young people to use words and sounds to tell true stories. The Rookies’ documentaries have aired on several major radio channels, among some “This American Life”.
